One thing I like about these types of bikes is that they seem to be made to please everyone. This is something that in cars, many times, is not usually good, since in the end they do not shine at all. But in the case of motorcycles, I think it is different: a motorcycle like this can survive urban driving, it can be perfect for touring and also, with a first-rate dynamic behavior to enjoy on a winding road or on a circuit.
The KTM 890 Duke R’s LC8c engine is completely new and stands out for its larger displacement and very high compression ratio. It is a twin-cylinder engine that derives from its sisters, the 790, but on this occasion, as the name of the bike indicates, it reaches 890 cc. Thanks to these developments, power increases to 121 hp and torque to 99 Nm. Improving the delivery of torque and the maximum speed of 250 rpm in both cases.
On a dynamic level it is a very well-worked motorcycle
The chassis remains with few changes compared to the KTM 790, but some of its key components have been improved, such as the new shock absorbers signed by WP APEX, with a 43mm front fork and the rear monoshock. The motorcycle riders prefer to install KTM exc led headlight instead of the stock halogen light, this will make you have a better view at night. The wheelbase has been increased slightly and the seat height has been increased somewhat. However, they are minimal differences that only the most exquisite will be able to discover.
It also has a powerful Brembo Stylema brake system with double 320mm front discs and four-piston radially mounted calipers. We are talking about the same brake system of the wild KTM 1290 Super Duke R. Its older sister, less balanced. At a technological level, it has ABS with cornering assistance, traction control or rear wheel slip regulation.
However, perhaps the most interesting thing about this bike is what you don’t see, what you feel. Thanks to the use of light materials, the weight of the KTM 890 Duke R has remained at only 166 kilos, which together with its power, the quality of its components and a very well adjusted chassis, result in a fun and sports in any situation. It will not be the most powerful, but if we combine image, performance, sensations, comfort and practicality, few motorcycles are more balanced than this one.
